The big debate regarding whether to play online bingo or land based bingo has been continuing for years. Each of these presents very similar as well as some dissimilar opportunities, but the one thing that they both do is bring together like-minded people to socialize and play bingo.
More and more players are turning to the convenience of online bingo playing for the simple reason that they can have a few games before bedtime, without having to get dressed up and brave the cold, take out the care or worse, catch a bus and it is a darn site cheaper too. Added benefits if you are a smoker are the you can enjoy smoking in peace without having to go and stand outside in the freezing cold weather, and you can drink your tea in your luck bingo mug.
That having been said, have you heard the story in the news about the Gala Bingo caller who tried to defraud members of thousands of pounds in winnings? This brings to light a whole new set of skeletons in the closet about manually feeding numbers into a random number generator, allowing his girlfriend to win thousands of pound worth of prize money that should have been destined for genuine bingo players who had bough and paid for genuine tickets.
Strangely enough it is always the players who catch these guys out, this was the case with the massive online poker scam which took place a couple of years back and rocked the online gaming world.
Whether or not you are safer in term so fairness, playing online bingo than you are playing land based bingo is a moot point. Both systems use random number generators, but I think what actually counts is that auditing systems are in place, and because bingo, like poker players are numbers people, they can see when something is going off that doesn’t look quite kosher.
The most important thing I believe is to keep a lookout and if you see something happening at your club, whether off or online and it doesn’t look right. Lodge an enquiry, remember if that bingo caller was defrauding potential winners, he was also defrauding his club and giving it a bad name. No bingo operation wants this!!
