The names of the top six operators, in line for the highly coveted, 2010, Bingo Operator of the Year Award has been released. And, the results, shall we say, are surprising. Why? The two biggest Bingo operators in the UK, Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo, are not in the running. A curious notion? Or confirmation that the two giants of UK Bingo are looking their hold? This highly prestigious award is hosted by eGaming Review, and the Bingo world has been eagerly anticipating the release the short list. And, of course, there are few who didn’t want to be on it!So, who did make it into the top six? Of course, as was expected by everyone! Cashcade have made it into the top six, with Foxy Bingo. One of the two operators, running on the Globalware platform, to make it through. The other being Wink Bingo, owned by Spacebar Media. Ladbrokes Bingo also made it through. One of two short listed operators running on the Virtue Fusion platform. The other being William Hill Bingo. Tombola Bingo and Jackpot Joy are the final two of the six finalists. Both of whom, run their own ‘in-house’ Bingo software.
Without doubt, everyone will have their own favourites, and everyone will be busy predicting (and hoping) their ‘bestist’ Bingo site will win. Even so, probably nobody will be crossing their fingers, more than the operators themselves! Certainly, there will be many putting their money on Foxy Bingo. Another ‘biggy’ is Tombola Bingo, and, when it comes to the Bingo Operator of the Year, size DOES count. One of the set criteria for judging, being the size of the business. Which, in many ways, produces another surprise, in that Cashcade didn’t simply sweep the floor!
There were a few surprises, with regards to some of the more long standing operators. Like Crown Bingo for instance, they either didn’t enter, or didn’t make it. It does seem a little ‘icky’, that the size of the business is considered ‘criteria’. After all, just because a business is big, doesn’t mean that the product is good. And, it certainly shouldn’t be regarded highly, as any indication, that any given company, is the best at what it does. Or, am I just being pedantic? I think not!
