The Breast Cancer Campaign and British Bingo work together all year long to raise funds for this incredibly important charitable concern. Their work culminates at the end of the year in October, when Breast Cancer week sees a week-long push of fundraising, everyone goes pink, and everyone gets involved in this. Not least of which, many online bingo sites of the like of Foxy Bingo get involved and they go all out to raise funds, getting involved from an organizational aspect (through special games), as well as staff members all doing their own individual bit.
Perhaps after seeing how successful online bingo can be for raising funds, the Breast Cancer Campaign, Fatspanner and SWP Terminal have joined forces to form “Dab For Life”. Fat Spanner has committed £10 000 to the project over the next two years and will be donating 5% of the proceeds from their share, regardless of whether Dab For Life succeeds or fails.
Test machines are ready to be demonstrated to operators, and have been released to some for testing, although we are not really sure what format this game is in. The news segment doesn’t say which bingo operators will be testing it, but I expect we shall hear what the results are in the not too distant future. The game is expected to be released for sale early in 2010. This kind of initiative shows how private sector industry; can help charitable concerns and still have a successful business model.
Bingo has by its nature, been used to raise funds for widows, orphans, to raise church steeple, and all kinds of charitable organizations and causes. This is only one of the many good works we see happening. Online bingo and other bingo brands all have their own favorite charity to donate to. This activity is not limited to just dedicating a game, with a share of the proceeds, although this does take place, it also means that employees get stuck in the thick of things. I have seen staff members jumping out of planes, organizing a bingo game at the highest altitude (base camp of Mt. Everest). They have collected shoes, mobile phones and climbed Mt. Snowdon, so it is no wonder that playing bingo doesn’t have the same kind of reputation which seems to cling to other forms of gambling activities.
